TEHRAN – Iran has once again emerged as a focal point of international aviation disruption as several major global airlines have suspended or cancelled flights to the country amid escalating nationwide protests and mounting security concerns.
Multiple European and Asian carriers, including Germany’s Lufthansa (LH) and France’s Air France (AF), have temporarily halted services to Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) following comprehensive safety assessments. The airlines cited concerns over crew safety, operational risks, and the rapidly evolving security situation across Iran.
Airlines Suspend Operations
According to airline statements, the decision to suspend flights was taken after reviewing intelligence reports and guidance from aviation authorities. Both passenger and cargo operations have been affected, significantly disrupting Iran’s international air connectivity.
Lufthansa confirmed that flights to and from Tehran would remain suspended until further notice, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority.
