A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta was forced to make an emergency return to São Paulo shortly after takeoff on March 30, 2026, following a serious engine malfunction.

     The aircraft, operating as Delta Flight DL104, had just departed from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport when the crew detected a problem with the left engine. According to initial reports, the issue was identified as a compressor stall, a condition that can cause loud bangs, flames, and loss of engine efficiency. Passengers on board reported hearing explosive noises and seeing flashes coming from the engine, creating moments of panic inside the cabin.

     Acting swiftly, the flight crew followed emergency procedures and decided to return to São Paulo as a precautionary measure. The aircraft circled briefly to manage fuel and prepare for landing before safely touching down at the airport.
