Mugu, Nepal — Nepal Airlines has officially commenced regular flight operations to Rara Airport starting Sunday, marking a significant improvement in air connectivity for the remote Karnali region.
According to station in-charge Navin Kumar Bista, the airline will operate flights from Nepalgunj four times a week—on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. In addition, a separate flight from Surkhet to Rara Airport will also be operated every Thursday.
The introduction of scheduled services is expected to bring major relief to local residents, particularly those who previously faced difficulties transporting critically ill patients to other cities due to limited or irregular flight availability.
With the resumption of consistent air services, authorities and locals anticipate improved access to healthcare, increased mobility, and enhanced regional connectivity in Mugu district, home to the popular Rara Lake destination.
